1. Put peeled and cut potatoes in a pot. Put enough water in the pot so that it is 2 inches higher than the potatoes.

Heat the water until it boils. Cook the potatoes until they are soft when pierced with a fork, but still hold their shape. Lower the temperature.

In another bowl, mix flour and half a cup of water until the flour dissolves.

Slowly pour the flour mixture into the pot with the potatoes while stirring continuously. Let it cook for a short time to make it thicker. Change the thickness by adding more flour for a thicker texture or more water for a thinner one.

Add milk, salt, pepper, onion flakes, and butter or bacon grease (if desired) to the mixture according to your taste.
