Preheat your oven to 200°C (390°F).
In a mixing bowl, combine the semolina, baking powder, almonds, sugar, and salt. Mix well.
Add the yogurt, oil or melted butter, and rose water (or orange blossom water). Stir until well incorporated.
Grease a baking dish with butter. Pour the mixture into the dish and level it out.
Cut the batter into squares and decorate each piece with a white almond.
Bake in the preheated oven for 20 to 25 minutes, or until the top is golden brown.
For the Syrup:
In a saucepan, combine sugar, water, and lemon juice. Bring to a boil.
Reduce heat and let it simmer for about 15 minutes, or until the syrup thickens slightly.
Stir in the rose water (or orange blossom water) and remove from heat.
To Finish:
Once the basbosa is done baking, pour the hot syrup evenly over the cake while it is still warm.
Allow the basbosa to rest and absorb the syrup before serving.
Enjoy your delicious Basbosa with almonds!
